There were many highlights during the almost 24-hour celebration of Louisville Bible College’s 70 years of faithful ministry educating preachers and other Christian leaders for Christ’s Church. The Sunday afternoon service was led in praise by alumni Ron and Lynette Davidson. They along with Ralph Hillenburg and the Clark Twins provided special music. The history, presence, and future of Louisville Bible College were shared by Larry Oetzel, Dr. Tom Mobley, and Kerry Allen. LBC’s first graduating class was specially recognized with certificates in their honor presented to their families, Robert VanZile and Dr. William Slider composed the class.
After a reception at the campus, six couples traveled to 1707 S. Third Street, the site of the original campus. It now serves as a Bed-n-Breakfast. There was much reminiscing, storytelling, and touring took place. (There were even reports of PDA on the stairway landing bench!) After a good night’s rest and breakfast, all returned to LBC.
There, Instructor David Buckham welcomed the guests to join his Bible class. Later all moved to LifeBridge Christian Church for a gospel concert by the Dave Melton Family Singers. Dad, Mom and the five children did a wonderful job blessing and leading the congregation in worship!
The 70th Celebration ended with an Alumni Luncheon at the Hungry Pelican Seafood Restaurant in Fern Creek. After a delicious meal, Alumni President, Mike Wall, reminded the group of such upcoming events as Teen Day, Alumni/Graduation Banquet, election of officers, etc. He also announced the giving of an Alumni Scholarship to one of the current preaching students.
